Common questions
What are Close-up and Overview?
A model opens on a close-up of the part that matters, marked with a ring and a label. Overview shows the whole exhibit. Switching only moves the camera: the model keeps its pose and time.
How do I play, pause or slow a model down?
Use Play/Pause under the picture and the speed choices (¼×, ½×, 1×, 2×) in the top menu. Reset puts the model back at its start and the speed at 1×.
How do I zoom and move the picture?
Pinch with two fingers, or use the zoom button for the steps. Turn on Hand to drag the picture with one finger; with Hand off, a drag scrolls the page. On the Mac, hold a modifier key and scroll, or use the zoom buttons. Fit returns to the whole model.
A control looks greyed out.
Some actions only make sense in some poses, for example you cannot turn the lock with a key that does not match. The line under the picture says what is happening.
What is Try it?
The controls that belong to this model. On the iPhone it opens as a drawer under the picture; on the Mac and iPad it sits beside it. Tours open it for you.
What is a Blueprint?
A picture card of the model as it is now, with three facts. Choose Copy Image, Share or Save. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
What are the badges?
The Inventor Passport counts the models you open, the tours you finish and the blueprints you draft. It is kept only on your device.
Do I need an account or the internet?
No. All the models are in the app and it works offline.
Are the facts and numbers exact?
They are teaching simplifications. Sizes, forces and timings are illustrative, and the body models explain how a mechanism works rather than how a person's body is doing. They are not advice.
Something looks wrong.
Please email us with the model and a description, or a screenshot. The Settings page has an Email the developer button that fills in your system and app version.
